So this year we decided to start a family tradition that the kids are going to love doing each year. Two nights ago
Jace and I read the book, "Elf on the Shelf." This explains the story of the elf that Santa sends to our house to watch the kids each day until Christmas and then reports back to Santa each night on whether they were naughty or nice.
Jace woke up yesterday morning to find our "Elf" sitting on the fireplace mantle.
Jace was so excited and could not believe his eyes. Our elf quickly became "Jack the Elf."
Jack spent the day yesterday taking notes on
Jace and
Jaden and then left when they went to bed to report everything he saw to Santa. When
Jace woke up this morning Jack was back and this time sitting in the kitchen. Each night Jack leaves and when the kids wake up they find him in a new spot. The kids look forward to waking up each morning and looking for Jack. On Christmas Eve Jack's job is done and he heads back to the North Pole until next year.
Jace said he is going to miss him and I think Abe and I will too....Jack brings out an amazingly well behaved side of
Jace that we usually do not see very often.
Hmmm...we will need to think of something else like this for the other 11 months out of the year.
